Project Details

The Kangaroo Point Green Bridge is more than just a new crossing, it’s a landmark addition to Brisbane’s cityscape and a critical piece of active transport infrastructure. 

Spanning 470 metres, the single-mast cable-stayed bridge connects Kangaroo Point to Brisbane’s CBD, dramatically improving access for pedestrians and cyclists while reducing traffic on the Story Bridge. With riverside dining, shaded viewing decks, and a sweeping architectural profile, it has become a must-visit destination for residents and visitors alike. 

Construction commenced in 2021 and was completed in 2024. The bridge reaches a height of up to 12.7 metres above high-water level, matching the Victoria and Captain Cook Bridges, and delivers a 6.8-metre-wide shared path for active users. 

Our Role:

As a key subcontractor to BESIX Watpac, CaSE & Pike Design delivered the temporary works design for this complex and highly technical project. 

The scale and logistics of the bridge construction required adaptable and robust engineering solutions. From managing 180-tonne mastheads (each the weight of three double-decker CityCat ferries) to maintaining the long-term stability of girders during transport and installation, our team provided critical design services to ensure a smooth and safe build sequence.
