CaSE attended the Bridges Conference 2026, held on March 11th at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Representing CaSE at this year’s event were Colin Henderson, Paul McQue and Florian Dieterle, reflecting the depth of expertise and collaborative approach across the CaSE team.
Throughout the day, our CaSE team welcomed visitors to the CaSE stand and engaged in a wide range of conversations with clients, project partners and industry peers from across the bridges sector. Discussions focused on the practical challenges currently facing bridge owners, operators and contractors, as well as emerging opportunities across the market.
Key topics discussed included temporary works (TW) design and CAT 3 checking, with strong interest in independent technical support for complex bridge schemes. A recurring theme across many conversations was the challenge of recruitment and retention, which continues to impact organisations across the sector.
For public sector clients in particular, discussions highlighted ongoing cost pressures and the difficulty of competing for limited technical resources. These challenges are driving an increased need for flexible specialist support to help manage workloads and maintain delivery programmes.

Contractor-led conversations also reinforced the importance of clearly communicating capability across a broad range of project types. While complex and technically demanding schemes remain a key focus, there was strong interest in support for simpler and enabling works, such as temporary access arrangements and early-stage construction activities. These discussions highlighted the value of demonstrating both technical depth and practical delivery experience.
Beyond formal technical discussions, the event provided an opportunity to reconnect with contacts from previous conferences, catch up on current workloads, and continue wider conversations around capacity, resourcing and future market trends.
Commenting on the event, Colin Henderson said:
“Great to exhibit at the conference again. It was a fantastic opportunity to catch up with contacts made at previous events, as well as to meet many new people. We’re looking forward to continuing those conversations over the coming weeks and months, and at future events. It’s always interesting to hear what contacts are working on, what’s on the horizon for the sector, and what’s new in the market.”
The insights gained at the conference will help inform CaSE’s ongoing work supporting bridge projects across the UK and internationally.
