The project was located on Out Skerries, a group of islets—some inhabited—in Shetland, Scotland, and the easternmost part of the Shetland Islands. Locally, they are often referred to as "Da Skerries" or simply "Skerries."
The project involved designing temporary bridge structures to enable heavy plant access onto Skerries Island using the existing jetty, spanning over the load-rated existing fixed span. The plant was required to carry out refurbishment of the jetty. As craneage was unavailable for the installation or removal of the temporary bridges, a hauling method was developed.
CaSE was employed to design the temporary works and develop the installation method for the bridge structures.
