The Botany Rail Duplication (BRD) project involved duplication of 3 km of single-track rail line to create a double-track freight corridor between Mascot and Botany, improving rail capacity to Sydney Airport and Port Botany. Works included removal and replacement of two existing bridges with post-tensioned concrete structures spanning major intersections and motorways, including O’Riordan Street and the Southern Cross Drive Motorway.
Construction was completed under highly constrained urban conditions, requiring extensive planning, interface management, and staged weekend possessions to minimise disruption to road users and the freight network.
