Coire Glas is a proposed pumped hydro storage scheme and the first of its kind to be developed in the UK for more than 40 years.
Located on the shores of Loch Lochy in the Scottish Highlands the scheme will double the UK’s existing electricity storage and has a potential capacity of up to 1300MW with an energy storage of around 30 GWh.
The scheme is undergoing various enabling works to facilitate its construction and operational readiness including road upgrades, temporary diversion roads, and construction of a new road bridge.
