Built on the alignment of the former traffic bridge, the new crossing improves journeys for road and river users while providing wider, safer connections for people walking and riding.

As Australia’s only extradosed bridge, the structure combines characteristics of a girder bridge and a cable-stayed bridge. It carries two traffic lanes in each direction and includes shared paths up to four metres wide on both sides. A 9-metre navigational clearance, two metres higher than the former bridge, also improves access and safety for vessels moving along the river.

The bridge’s four towers rise 36 metres above the water and support eight stay cables on each side, with each cable containing up to 55 individual strands. The crossing also incorporates 46 precast T-Roff beams, each weighing approximately 70 tonnes, and foundations driven approximately 60 metres into the riverbed. Delivering these elements within a constrained river, road, rail and port environment required careful planning, detailed coordination and practical construction-led engineering.

Nuestro rol

CaSE supported the Fremantle Bridges Alliance from the early stages of the project through construction, bringing together specialist construction, engineering design and digital construction expertise. Our involvement began during cost planning, where the team provided construction advice and guidance, developed construction methodology, and prepared temporary works packages and schemes to support a safe, efficient and constructable delivery approach.

During construction, CaSE continued to provide senior specialist personnel, construction methodology guidance and a key interface with the designers. Temporary works solutions included precast yard equipment, lifting beams, reinforcement jigs, precast mould checking, geometry control, stressing platforms and handrail systems, T-Roff support and access systems, and segment lifting beam checks.

The CaSE Digital Construction team joined the project at the 15% design stage, working collaboratively with the broader project team to align design documentation with construction methodology. Detailed 3D reinforcement and construction modelling, model coordination and clash detection, shop-drawing packages and live model scheduling provided accurate, build-ready information and helped manage complex interfaces from design through to construction.

Bringing construction, design and digital specialists together allowed the CaSE team to examine challenges from different perspectives and develop coordinated solutions that worked in practice on site. This integrated approach supported the delivery of a technically complex bridge that will serve as a lasting gateway to Fremantle.

["post-9086","projects","type-projects","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
